About Hanrob

Hanrob was established in 1981 at Heathcote, 45 kilometres south of Sydney, NSW.  The company was founded by Hannie and Bob Biggs (and is how the name was originated Han and Rob becoming 'Hanrob') who had a passion for dogs and cats and a genuine concern for their welfare.  They identified an opportunity to provide exceptional care for both dogs and cats whilst their owners were on holidays.

In 1986 the Hanrob Dog Training division opened, providing dog obedience and dog behavioural training. Hanrob's dog training department provides personal dog trainers for each participating dog to ensure the very best in obedience training. 

In 1992 Hanrob implemented the first Veterinary Agency Network for dog and cat boarding accommodation in Australia and throughout the world. The goal was to improve convenience for clients through a pick-up and drop-off service from local vet agencies. This complimentary transfer service  remains an integral part of Hanrob's service to clients.

In 1995 Hanrob expanded into specialised dog training services, providing Quarantine Detector Dogs to Australian Quarantine Inspection Services (AQIS).  This service has since expanded and now supplies dogs to local and international government departments and private organisations.  

In 1996 Hanrob was instrumental in establishing the self-funded charity, Assistance Dogs for Independence, to assist Australians with disabilities lead more independent lives.  Today it is known as Assistance Dogs Australia and in 2006 Hannie and Bob were awarded Order of Australia medals for their valuable contribution to the community.

In 2004 following six years as co-founder and CEO of Assistance Dog Australia, and after roles in other sectors such as the motor vehicle industry, their youngest son Andrew joined Hanrob as the Managing Director. Hanrob is a second generation family owned and operated business. With over 20 years experience in the pet care industry, Andrew naturally has a strong affinity with both dogs and cats. Andrew has grown up with the business and is dedicated to delivering the highest standard of domestic pet care and training services.


Hanrob now has two facilities in Sydney with the Heathcote facility set on 15 acres and the Sydney Airport facility located convenient to the Domestic long term car park. We have modern pet accommodation and training facilities and are one of Australia’s leading pet boarding and training service providers.

Since 1981 the company has grown to meet demand and changing societal trends. Hanrob is renowned for providing the ultimate level of pet care, dog training and pet education services throughout Australia and overseas and strive ourselves in maintaining our high reputation in pet care services.
